Delving into Email Marketing

By Ron Stucky

There are all sorts of new email marketing techniques being peddled. There are many courses and books that are released every day, telling you how to make more money from your list with "new" techniques. You might be one of the people that wants to try a course like this, simply because your email marketing strategies are not doing too well. If you really want to "reinvigorate" your list marketing strategies, you need to get back to basics in order to make things work once again. You can get careless and forget the foundations from which you began to make money with your list, something that happens to all of us. Whenever you need help, this is where you need to go once again.

First of all, you need to segment your list to some degree. This way, as soon as someone actually buys the thing you are promoting, they are moved from the "prospects" list to the "buyer" list. Different autoresponder messages should be used for follow-up. When people buy from you, it is not in your best interest to market the same item to them once they have already made the purchase. Doing this will cause them to unsubscribe. You do, however, need to thank them for the purchase and encourage them to keep in touch. As long as the list is segmented, this is so easy to do. All you have to do is use a subscription-based autoresponders that has this option.

This is because the choice of who gets to see which email is up to you. Testing might not seem essential but it's the only way for you to figure out which emails and tactics are generating the best response. You can ask people if they want to be your "guinea pigs" and put them on a special list, on which you can then test the various messages you want to send out. People love to give feedback, after all-why not take advantage of this? Don't ever stop working on building your list. It can be tempting to stop building, especially if your list becomes quite enormous. Is it really necessary to continue building a few of hundreds, or thousands, of subscribers? The answer is yes! When you wake up, your priority should be focusing on building your list even bigger than before. Remember, for each new person you bring in, you'll have a few unsubscribe. Getting people to opt in (spending about 30 minutes doing this) is what you need to do every morning. Since people will continue to unsubscribe, to keep your list from disappearing, you need to keep working at it.

You need to find a list service that offers excellent customer service. It's imperative that you are able to talk to a live person if you experience any problems. This doesn't have a lot to do with direct selling, but it does help you make sure that every email you send out actually gets to where you want it to go.

Your list will not appreciate emails all the time. If you send out several emails each week, this is generally okay. Every two or three days, you need to send out an article to your subscribers for them to read. Unfortunately, this could be a bad idea. Since it is your list, you ought to know what is best to do. You know what you've promised your list. This is your personal audience and list. Whatever they need, you need to provide it. You will probably know if it is a good idea, or a bad idea, to send out too many emails to your list - you know them better than anyone else.

E-mail marketing is a great way to make money online. There are many ways to earn this money as you have just seen. List building and selling basics always need to be remembered. It can help you succeed online. As long as you have a strong foundation on what matters, and you stick to the basics, you can easily ignore the promises of overnight profits that may distract you. If you really want to succeed, take all of the parts that we have discussed in regard to making a strong foundation in your list building efforts will skyrocket and make you successful.
